2025

A collaborative piece between Dadiogaosai and Nymphia Wind, a Taiwanese drag artist renowned for her signature banana motif. I was responsible for the concept development, design, and 3D modeling. The design merges Nymphia’s iconic banana motif with Dadiogaosai’s signature belt element, creating a new visual language that unites the identities of both collaborators.

Initially, I explored incorporating Dadiogaosai’s Shibari-inspired aesthetic directly into the banana form. As themes of restraint, tension, and bondage are recurring elements within the brand’s visual language, the concept sought to express these ideas through the banana itself. Throughout the design development process, however, the concept evolved into a belt motif, conveying a similar sense of restraint while offering a more refined, elegant, and wearable result. The final piece balances playfulness, symbolism, and craftsmanship, resulting in a design that feels both distinctive and cohesive.

This project involved the design and 3D modeling of a Mikado pheasant sculpture for a Taiwan-inspired stage costume. Inspired by one of Taiwan’s most iconic native birds, the piece was designed to convey agility, elegance, and vitality, thereby enhancing the costume's strong sense of movement and theatrical presence.

“The Flame”
Inspired by the dynamic movement of fire, the Flame Series translates the fluid energy of burning flames into sculptural forms. Flowing curves and organic silhouettes capture moments of motion frozen in time, transforming an ephemeral natural phenomenon into solid metal forms.

As Chinese knotting is a defining element of Dadiogaosai’s design language, the series incorporates a Chinese knot-inspired silhouette that gradually dissolves into a smoke trail. This transformation creates a visual connection between the brand’s heritage and the movement of fire, linking tradition with change.

The collection explores the balance between strength and delicacy, expressing the beauty of constant movement, transformation, and renewal.

Photographed and showcased in Paris.

2024

In the Reflection Series, I placed the form of a Chinese knot on the surface of water and explored how its reflection transforms through movement. Inspired by the fluid distortions created by ripples and light, the collection reinterprets the structured geometry of the Chinese knot into softer, flowing forms.

Rather than replicating the knot itself, the designs focus on the moment when its reflection begins to shift and dissolve beneath the water’s surface. The resulting silhouettes capture a sense of fluidity and transformation, translating an intangible visual phenomenon into wearable sculptural objects.

Through this series, the Chinese knot is reimagined not as a fixed symbol, but as a living form in constant motion—balancing tradition with change, structure with fluidity, and familiarity with abstraction.

2023

Dadiogaosai is a Taiwan-based jewelry brand founded in 2019. Inspired by traditional Chinese knotting, the brand reinterprets cultural symbols as contemporary wearable sculptures through digital design and traditional metalworking techniques.

The work explores the relationship between structure and fluidity, translating movement, emotion, and organic forms into jewelry that balances artistic expression with wearability.

This design language originated in the brand’s first collection, which featured a leather corset inspired by the fusion of traditional Chinese knotting and Japanese Shibari. Through themes of restraint, tension, and transformation, the piece established the sculptural foundation that continues to shape Dadiogaosai’s creative direction today.

I am Yi-Syuan Wu, a jewelry designer, 3D artist, and founder of Dadiogaosai, an independent jewelry brand based in Taiwan.

My work combines digital sculpting, traditional craftsmanship, and product development to create wearable sculptures and three-dimensional objects. Over the past six years, I have developed collections, stage costume elements, and collaborative projects presented internationally.

I am particularly interested in transforming movement, emotion, and cultural narratives into sculptural forms, balancing artistic expression with practical manufacturing knowledge.
